A suggested Anaphylaxis Treatment Sheet is here for all AFAST®-positive cases that are presumed or confirmed to be AX-related Heparin-induced Canine Anaphylaxis to print off by clicking here.

This Treatment Sheet was created circa 2012 and agreed upon by 3 DACVECCs and 2 DABVPs and used in a few hundred cases thereafter at Dr. Lisciandro’s previous practice in San Antonio, Texas.  Fatality is rare.  Repeat rounds of Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) are uncommon (maybe 1 in 7-10 dogs); and patients becoming anemic is exceedingly rare using our protocol.  Lastly, Epinephrine was administered in likely only 25-33% as most patients responded to intravenous fluids, H1-antagonists (Diphenhyydramine), H2-antagonists (Famotidine), and steroids (Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate).

Make sure you watch Dr. Greg Lisciandro’s recorded presentation given at ACVIM Convention in 2022 (also repeated in 2023).  Access is FREE of Charge and a MUST Watch – click here.
