This Figure is taken from one of our AFAST®-Global FAST® Course and lists obvious soft tissue abnormalities that may be detected during AFAST®.  It is important to acknowledge that the AFAST®-Global FAST® Approach is a screening test and that it has its limitations as the AFAST® is not a complete detailed abdominal ultrasound.

However, many of these abnormalities are missed on physical examination, introductory laboratory testing (blood and urine), and missed or only suspected on plain radiography.  Furthermore, our AFAST®-Global FAST® Approach serves as a cost-effective first line imaging modality to get to additional imaging such as plain radiography, more detailed ultrasound, CT and MRI.
